My Vision Came True
I’m so excited that my vision came true! Well, one of them did. I created a vision board a few years ago. One of the goals I had on my vision board was to go skiing. Filled with gratitude I can say I went skiing for the first time a few days ago. Woot, woot!
What is so magical about this experience is that I didn’t do anything to achieve it. It’s one thing to put something on your vision board – say a trip to Paris – and then go buy a ticket to Paris. It’s a completely different thing to have no foreseeable opportunity to achieve your vision and somehow it comes to life.
That is what my experience was. I’m a black girl living in Texas. Nobody in my social circle is going skiing. In fact, a few years ago I tried to get my friends to go on a ski trip that is held every year in January. No bites. So this dream of going skiing rested in the back of my mind until now.
Here’s how it happened: There was a business conference hosted in Salt Lake City, Utah. I thought about going, but didn’t give it serious consideration. Two people asked me at separate times, “Charlene, you don’t want to go to the conference?” After the second person asked I thought, “Let me look into this.” I reached out to my contact at the conference. They ended up giving me a free ticket to the conference. All I had to do was arrange a flight and hotel. To top things off two days of skiing was included with the conference registration!
This is what makes this experience so special. I thought about going to the conference, but I pushed it to the back of my head. I thought the timing was wrong. Not one, but two people asked me about the conference. I started to reconsider going after the repeated promptings. A few back and forth emails later I got a free ticket that included skiing! I almost did not get the vision. I almost missed it, but the universe, God, lined things up for me and then pushed me toward it.
My vision came true out of no where. I didn’t plan for it. I didn’t research ski resorts and price out the trip. I didn’t save for it. All I had to do was to follow the recurring messages (asking me about the conference) and buy some ski pants. That’s it. I’m so thankful for the experience. I had a great time, I caught on fast and I can’t wait to do it again!
The lesson here is to have a vision. I am really big on vision. The bible says,”Without vision the people will perish.” We can debate about the meaning of that scripture, but I believe it’s true even in this context. Everyone needs a vision. If you don’t have one I encourage you to create one. Whether it’s on a visual board like the one I have above, in a journal, or just tucked away in your heart have a vision for your life and watch it come true. It might not happen right away. I created my vision board two years ago and I just went skiing two days ago. It will take time, but it’s worth it.
