A Prayer to be My True Self

Dear Heavenly Father,

I come you to this evening to pray for your guidance as I discover more about who I am and trust in who You are molding me to be. I pray to be able to see me the way that You see me. Your word says that I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Your word says that everything created by You is good and that nothing is to be rejected. Help me to be 100% of who You made me to be. I am made in Your image. Help my eyes to see, Lord. Give me the courage to walk in the world as my true self. Help me to be honest, truthful, real, and authentic. Kill the spirit of comparison in me. Direct me away from trying to be like anyone else. Forgive me, God for comparing myself and mimicking after anyone else.  I know You have specific gifts and a specific purpose just for me. Lord, show me my gifts. Reveal to me my purpose. Make it plain, God, so I can write it on the tablets and run with it.

Lord, as I’ve embarked on a journey to help others discover who they really are please order my steps. Help me to teach others how to have confident assurance of who they are and the gifts they possess. Let me be Your vessel to lead Your people to more fulfilling and purposeful lives. Help them heal where they need to heal and to grow where they need to grow. As people discover who they are, I pray that it leads them to You. I pray that they’d be transformed by the renewing of their minds.

In Jesus name, these things I pray.

A Prayer to be More Obedient

Walk in Obedience

Walking in Obedience

Heavenly Father,

My prayer today is for help and guidance in being more obedient to Your word. Sometimes I’m afraid to do what you ask me to do. Sometimes I am against doing the right thing. I wonder, “What about me?” or, “But they don’t deserve it.” I often want to hold on to my own wants and desires. Sometimes I think I know best. I try to lean on my own understanding and that leads me to not obey Your will for me. Create in me an obedient spirit. Help me to be courageous enough to do what I don’t understand. Help me to be faithful enough to do what I don’t agree with me.  Please forgive me for all my disobedient acts. Guide me towards Your will.

In Jesus’ name, Amen

A Prayer to be More Joyful

Dear Heavenly,

In my pursuit to develop Godly characteristics I ask you today to fill me up with joy. Your word says that you enlarged their nation and increased their joy. Please increase my joy heavenly Father. Teach me what it means to be joyful. Show me how to count it all joy whenever I am faced with trials and afflictions. I want to live a joyful life and to have joy fill my days. Protect my heart from joylessness and misery. Plant in me a spirit of happiness and satisfaction. Help me to spread joy wherever I go and when I depart from joy I pray you lead me back.

In Jesus Name, Amen

A Prayer to be more Faithful

Dear Heavenly Father,

I’m coming to you today because my faith needs strengthening. Thank you for always being faithful to me even when I am unfaithful. I know that faithfulness is the belief in something without proof. To be honest, I feel as though at times I have had the faith of the mustard seed and the mountain never moved. I don’t know how to reconcile my faith with my unanswered prayers. I don’t know how to remain faithful when the thing I’ve prayed for never came. Teach me what it means to have an unwavering faith. Show me how to reconcile my faith with the prayers that have never come to fruition. Help increase my faith. I don’t even know what that means or how it looks, but I know you do. Whatever it is I need to have bigger faith please help me receive. Touch my heart. Forgive my mind. Lead me to a place of faithfulness.

In Jesus Name, Amen

A Prayer to be more Hopeful

Dear Heavenly Father,

I’ve been living a hopeless life. “My hopes and dreams are fading fast and I don’t think my strengths going to last.” I’ve felt that song in heart for quite some time now. The things I hope and pray for are so elusive. I gave up on hope to keep my heart from breaking. But your word says:

For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. (Jer 29:11)

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope. (Romans 15:13)

I know it is your will and it is pleasing to you that your children have hope. My prayer today is to have renewed hope. I pray to be full of hope. Help me to not give up on hope. Help me to not give up on the things I hope for. I fight so hard not to have hope. Just to except things as they are. I’m praying today for the future and the hope you planned for me. I’m praying for a strengthen heart that won’t easily break. I’m praying for a patient spirit that faints not.

In Jesus name, Amen

A Prayer to be More Productive

Dear Heavenly Father,

Your word says the sluggish desires much and has nothing but the diligent shall be made fat. I have big dreams and a thousand ideas but sometimes I struggle with making the best use of my time. Most days I’d rather crash on the couch in front of the TV screen and drift away.  Laziness is literally my sin of choice.  But I don’t want to be lazy anymore.  I want to be like the diligent who shall be made fat. I want to be like the ant who prepares and gathers her harvest. Help me to develop a productive spirit. I can never accomplish my dreams or implement the thousands of ideas I have living a sluggish lifestyle.  I pray for your guidance and nudging when I’m being lazy. I know it won’t be easy.  Help me to develop new habits. Give me supernatural energy.  Please be my strength when I am weak.  I pray for your help to be a doer and a believer, not just a thinker. Guide me towards a more productive life for the rest of my life.

In Jesus name, Amen

A Prayer to Be More Courageous

Dear Heavenly Father,

I come to You today as humbly as I know how to ask for more courage and more strength. I know accomplishing Your will for me here on earth requires great courage. Sometimes, (actually a lot of times) I’m too afraid to move my feet. Sometimes I’m too afraid to stand up for what’s right, to speak out in opposition or to say what I really think. Sometimes I settle for less than I want and less than I deserve because I lack courage. Help me to find strength and courage in You. Help me to live bravely and courageously.  Your word says to be of good courage. Guide me towards a life of good courage. I pray that you give me the courage to be the person that I really am in You.  I ask that You give me courage to admit when I’m wrong. Give me the courage to fix things when they fall apart and to face life when it gets hard. Please give me courage to push towards what’s right and to follow my every dream. Help me to be so courageous that it gives other people permission to live courageously as well.

A Prayer to be more Gracious

Grace Letterpress

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank you for the grace you have bestowed upon me. Thank you for the undeserved favor you continue to show me. I pray to give grace the way grace is given to me. Sometimes I feel that if I give to others I will be at a disadvantage. Sometimes I ask, “but what about me?” Help me not to think that way. Help me to be generous not only in tangible things like money and gifts, but also in love, peace, and respect.  Help me to be generous in smiles and hugs. Show me how to be a generous person. Show me how to be a gracious person. Help to give freely, unexpectedly, and without regard to what is or isn’t deserved. I pray for the grace to do good to and by everyone I come across. I pray to be a blessing to those you would have me bless.

In Jesus Name, Amen.

A Prayer to be more Merciful

Mercy Letterpress

Dear Heavenly Father,

Thank you for your grace and your mercy. Thank you for not holding my transgressions, imperfections, and faults against me. Thank you for giving me second chance after second chance. I come to you today humbly asking to be transformed into a more merciful person. Help me to look past the transgressions, imperfections, and faults of others. Help me to release the desire to “hold them to the fire.” Help me to relinquish my stubbornness. As You know, it really bothers me when someone does something I think is rude, dishonest or hurtful and then pretend it never happened. I want them to own up to their actions and when they don’t I have a hard time moving forward with that relationship. Many of relationships have been ruined because of a lie here or an insult there. Help me to let those things go and to not hold a grudge. Help me to show mercy. I understand people are afraid and even embarrassed to admit their mistakes. I want to be the kind of person who takes it easy on them.  I need your help in controlling my mind so that I don’t harbor on what happened. I also need your help in letting go of what I thought they should have done. Show me how to address those instances that should be addressed and how to sweep the insignificant issues under the rug. Teach me how to know the difference between the two. I pray you show me how to be merciful with others the same way you are merciful with me.

In Jesus Name, Amen

A Prayer to be more at Peace

Peace 2

Dear Heavenly Father,

You know I worry and wonder about everything. Why this? Why that? How come? I dwell on things way longer than I should; trying to understand, hypothesize, control. I know I shouldn’t. I come to you today praying for the gift of peacefulness. Help me to be at peace with all things and people even when I just don’t understand. Help my mind and heart to not search for answers but to just rest in Your perfect peace. Help calm my anxiety, my restlessness, and my silent heartbreaks. Show me how to receive the peace that surpasses all understanding. Help me to live the rest of my life in perfect peace no matter what.

In Jesus Name, Amen.
