How to Be A Dope Chick

I was talking to a friend and he said, “You are so dope.”

I said, “What?! You just now figuring that out?”

Lol. Okay. I didn’t say that. What I actually said was, “I’m just doing what I believe in.”

He thinks I’m “dope” because I’m headed to Colombia on a mission trip with my church this fall (God willing).

He thinks I’m dope because I went to Haiti last year on a mission trip.

He thinks I’m dope because I own rental property and I’m building this blog and podcasting.

In essence, he thinks I’m dope because I pursue what I believe in.

If you want to be a dope chick you have to first know what you believe in. What do you believe in?

Get out of the habit of not knowing anything. You don’t know what you want. You don’t know what you believe in. You don’t know what you care about. You don’t know what you want to eat. You don’t know where you want to go. Start knowing. Dope chicks know what they want.

The second thing you can do if you want to be a dope chick is to pursue those things that you believe in. How many people have an idea or a thought that they sit on? Those people look at the lives of dope chicks and think their lives are so glamorous. No we’re just constantly in pursuit of what we believe in. So that looks like always going somewhere or doing something interesting. In actuality it is always pursuing something we believe in.

You want to be a dope chick? Never stop pursing what you believe. I’ve always been someone who has tried a million different things. They haven’t always worked out. I wasn’t always chosen, but I sure do know how to take action. So many people are sitting around bored to death. They have mindless conversations over text. They’re watching mindless TV. They’re browsing mindless social media trends and “hot topics.” Dope chicks are not mindless. They’re mindful about what they’re doing and what they’re creating in their lives.

Dope chicks don’t tell themselves no. I’m not afraid to throw my hat in the ring for things that interest me.  I was an analyst and I applied to be a director at another company. That takes guts! Analyst to Director is a big move. They called me in for an interview too. I didn’t get the job, but it’s not because I told myself no. They told me no. When you don’t pursue your goals you’re essentially telling yourself no. Don’t do that! Believe in yourself enough to tell yourself yes.

Dope chicks find other avenues. Initially my church did not choose me to go to Colombia on the mission trip. What did I do? I reached out to the organization the church was partnering with directly. Two people from my church ended up dropping out so I am going with the church. But if they hadn’t dropped out I was already working on another avenue to be a part of what I believe in. When they truly believe in something dope chicks don’t just settle for no. Why should I not participate in something I believe in? Of course sometimes God says no. A lot of times people give up too soon. They tell themselves no. Dope chicks persist.

Dope chicks take risks. Investing in real estate or stocks or a business is risky. Dope chicks do it anyway. A little risk never hurt anybody. A lot of risk has made millionaires. Dope chicks live by this.

Dope chicks have fun. Whether it is hopping on an airplane to some exotic location or kicking back with their family or friends dope chicks know when and how to have a good time.

Dope chicks stick to their morals. They are woman of character, faith, and poise. Dope chicks don’t do dope. They don’t comprise who they are or their beliefs. They are who they say they are. A lot of my friends think I’m a goody two shoes. They’re right. I am. I do have conservative opinions on what’s right and what’s not so right. As much as possible I veer to the right thing.

To recap, if you want to be a dope chick:

  1. Find something you believe in. Find something you want to be a part of. Find something you want to be a part of you.
  2. Pursue what you believe in.
  3. Don’t take no for an answer when you really believe in a thing.
  4. Don’t tell yourself no. Let them tell you no.
  5. Take risks.
  6. Have fun.
  7. Stay true to who you are and what you believe.
